Urgèlia is the only cheese in Catalonia that has been granted the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO Formatge de l’Alt Urgell i la Cerdanya) for its high-quality, guaranteed origin and heritage.
It is made with fresh pasteurised milk, collected every day from our dairy farmers in the Pyrenees, an area of great natural wealth and fresh, green pastures.
The cheese has a tender, creamy texture and a mild, balanced flavour. The traditional ripening process allows it to develop aromas with notes of roasted nuts, moss and wild mushrooms.
